Muslim role model case studies

As part of efforts to increase the visibility of under-represented groups on Apprenticeships, four new case studies of successful Muslim role models are now available.

They include Amina Begum, who talks about how she left school with no qualifications and with low self-confidence, but overcame these barriers to establish a successful career in childcare, thanks to an Apprenticeship; she now plans to open her own nursery.

Additionally, 14 similar case studies from other parts of the Further Education sector are available on request. They include text, photos and, in some cases, video clips.

The case studies are available for use by LSC staff, providers, employers and partners, to inspire learners and to build an understanding of the barriers and enablers faced by Muslim learners. For example, Jawad Ahmed, a 20-year-old representative on the LSC’s Yorkshire and Humber Learner Panel, talks about how his college, faith and family have all helped him to overcome segregation and racism
